âYouâve Completely Broken Meâ â Emotional Sara Cox Brought to Tears as Dame Judi Dench, Mo Farah and a Spice Girl Rally Behind Her Record-Breaking Children In Need Challenge
Radio 2 favourite Sara Cox has become the beating heart of Children In Need 2025 â battling exhaustion, pain, and brutal weather as she runs 135 miles in just five days for the charityâs longest-ever challenge.
And now, as she stumbles into day three of her epic âGreat Northern Marathon,â the 50-year-old presenter has been flooded with love from a glittering list of stars â from Dame Judi Dench to Mo Farah, Mel C, and Peter Kay â all cheering her toward the finish line.

âEverything Hurts, But I Canât Stop Nowâ
Running through four counties â from the Scottish border down through Northumberland, Durham, North Yorkshire, and into West Yorkshire â Sara has faced steep hills, pounding rain, sleepless nights, and even a nasty cold.
âIâm really struggling this morning,â she confessed on air, her voice trembling. âMy calves are tight, my knees are killing me⊠everything hurts. But Iâve just got to keep digging.â
Moments later, she learned she had smashed the £1 million mark for Children In Need â and broke down, sobbing into her microphone.
âOh my God⊠one million! Youâve completely broken me,â she cried, hands over her face. âThank you so, so much. Every penny will change lives.â
 A-List Encouragement from Across Britain
The outpouring of celebrity support has been nothing short of heart-warming.
Dame Judi Dench, 90, sent a message from her home county of Yorkshire:
âSara, I hear youâre running through Godâs own country â my country â so Iâm sending you love and every bit of strength. Good luck, darling. How brilliant you are.â
Olympic legend Sir Mo Farah added:
âSara, youâve got what it takes. Believe in yourself. Youâre doing it for such an amazing cause â keep pushing, youâre inspiring everyone.â
And then came a burst of energy from Sporty Spice herself, Mel C:
âIâm sending all my fitness vibes to you. Youâve got this, babe â dig deep and keep going!â
Even documentary maker Louis Theroux couldnât resist joining in, joking:
âI ran once⊠for a bus. It was 30 years ago. So I canât imagine 135 miles! Itâs all mental, Sara. Youâre tougher than you think â keep battling.â
 The Nation Cheering Her On
Messages have poured in from every corner of British life â from marathon world-record holder Paula Radcliffe, to Alan Shearer, Gabby Logan, Richard Madeley, and Jack Saunders.
But it was comedian Peter Kay who made Sara laugh through her tears:
âI thought Paddy and Vernon had it tough â but youâre taking it to another level. When your legs are chafing and you canât go on, just think of the kids youâre helping⊠although with all that money raised, youâd think theyâd fix Pudseyâs eye by now!â
Ice Baths, Hot Tea, and Unbreakable Spirit
Between runs, Sara has been seen wrapped in blankets, clutching a mug of tea, or lowering herself into an ice bath to soothe her aching legs.
Her mantra? âKeep smiling, keep moving.â
Supporters have lined the roads across the North to cheer her on â waving yellow Pudsey flags, honking car horns, and shouting her name.
âItâs the kindness of strangers that keeps me going,â she said. âPeople on doorsteps, kids holding signs⊠itâs overwhelming.â
 A Nation United
What started as a challenge has become a national moment â a story of grit, humour, and heart thatâs inspired millions.
As she nears the final stretch toward Leeds, Sara says sheâs fuelled by one simple thought:
âEvery step hurts â but every step helps someone who needs it.â
And somewhere in the Yorkshire mist, the sound of honking horns and cheering crowds proves sheâs not running alone.
