‘I Stole Her From a Friend’: Gordon Ramsay’s Shock Love Confession, the Julia Roberts Comparison — and the Explosive Family Feud Now Rocking the Ramsays

Gordon Ramsay has revealed a startling detail about the very first moment he met his future wife — admitting he once “stole” Tana Ramsay from one of his own friends after being instantly captivated by her looks.

The celebrity chef, now 59, shares six children with Tana, 51, but their love story began in far from romantic circumstances. Gordon first crossed paths with Tana in the early 1990s — when she was still dating his close friend, Tim.

Speaking candidly to OK! Magazine, Gordon recalled his jaw-dropping first impression. Sitting in the back seat of a car driven by Tana, he turned to his friend in disbelief and blurted out that his girlfriend was “f****** gorgeous.”
According to Gordon, it wasn’t just her beauty that stunned him — it was the energy she brought with her.

“She looked like a young Julia Roberts,” he said, describing an instant spark that left a lasting mark. Yet despite his fascination, Gordon suspected the feeling wasn’t mutual.
“I got the sense she wasn’t a big fan of mine,” he admitted.
Tana later confirmed those suspicions — and didn’t hold back.
“I thought he was really arrogant,” she confessed. “Really full of himself. He used to really irritate me.”

But fate had other plans.
Just a month later, both Gordon and Tana found themselves newly single. What followed was a night-long conversation that changed everything. Talking until dawn, the connection suddenly clicked.
“I must have fancied him,” Tana admitted with a laugh.

The pair married in December 1996 and are now preparing to celebrate their pearl wedding anniversary later this year — a milestone that contrasts sharply with the turbulence currently surrounding their family.

In recent months, the Ramsays have found themselves at the centre of a bitter and increasingly public feud involving their son-in-law, Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty, and his estranged family.
The conflict erupted after Adam’s relatives reportedly branded Gordon a “bully,” following comments in which the chef claimed the family’s fallout with the swimmer was “self-inflicted.”
Tensions were impossible to ignore at Adam’s wedding to Gordon and Tana’s daughter Holly Ramsay, held last month at Bath Abbey. Gordon proudly walked Holly down the aisle — while Adam’s mother, Caroline, was notably absent, with only his sister Bethany attending from his side of the family.
Gordon has since insisted that he and Tana “did nothing wrong,” telling the Daily Mail that they treated the Peaty family “like royalty.”
But relatives on Adam’s side fiercely dispute that version of events.
“How bl***y dare they,” one family member reportedly said. “The sheer gall of them.”
They claim Caroline was ignored entirely, alleging that none of her messages were returned by Tana and that promised family meet-ups never happened.
The dispute has only deepened in recent weeks. Sources say Adam’s family has now “given up hope” of reconciliation after Gordon publicly referred to himself as “dad” in a comment beneath Adam’s wedding video on social media — where the swimmer declared he would “always choose” his wife.
“It’s been incredibly emotional for them,” an insider claimed. “They feel Adam has picked his side.”
At the wedding reception itself, emotions reportedly ran high. Gordon’s father-of-the-bride speech — which he later described as “perfect and warm” — allegedly included a remark that some felt was a pointed dig at Adam’s absent parents.
Family sources said Adam’s mother was left “outraged” and “deeply hurt,” believing the comment had been pre-planned.
Gordon, however, has stood firm.
“Being the dad of daughters, you dream of that moment,” he said during an appearance on This Morning. “It’s emotional. It’s tough. But the speech was perfect.”
Holly has publicly defended her father, saying she felt overwhelmed with happiness during the speech and later sharing photos of the joyful moment with British Vogue.
The newlyweds went on to enjoy a lavish £6,000-a-night honeymoon in Mauritius — a luxury reportedly gifted by Gordon and Tana — further fuelling tensions with Adam’s estranged family.
As the Ramsays prepare to mark nearly three decades of marriage, their story remains a striking mix of romance, controversy, loyalty and division — proof that even fairy-tale beginnings can be shadowed by real-life fallout.
