Laura Woods mocks “clown” Richard Keys over embarrassing tweet with a savage, high-impact one-liner

Laura Woods has hilariously trolled Richard Keys after the veteran broadcaster posted an awkwardly timed tweet about Sean Dyche — hours after the Nottingham Forest boss had already been sacked.

Keys, now working for BeIN Sports, appeared to be behind the curve when he asked on X: “If Dyche does today, would anyone be surprised?”

There was just one problem: Dyche had already been relieved of his duties five hours earlier.

Football fans wasted no time piling in — and Woods delivered perhaps the sharpest response of all. Taking a brief pause from the ongoing Eni Aluko row, the popular presenter quipped: “If you keep saying managers are going to get the sack I guess eventually you’ll be right.”

Her tongue-in-cheek remark instantly struck a chord online, with supporters lining up to mock the former Sky Sports host.

One user joked: “Can’t wait to hear his thoughts on the introduction of VAR to the Premier League.”

Another added: “Wait until he hears about the pass back rule!”

A third teased: “Richard Keys thinks Unai Emery might be sacked soon. By Arsenal.”

And one particularly blunt reply simply read: “You clown.”

Keys — who famously left Sky Sports alongside Andy Gray in 2011 after a sexism scandal — is no stranger to controversy. Now based in the Middle East, he has previously clashed with Woods.

The former talkSPORT host once branded him a “t***” after he posted remarks following the death of Terry Yorath, implying he had helped launch Gabby Logan’s career as a favour. In that post, Keys wrote: “Sad to hear the news of Terry Yorath’s passing. He was a warrior and won fans over wherever he played. He was great for us at Coventry and the reason I got Gabby a job at Sky. I had no idea who she was when we met but I knew her dad. RIP Terry. Your daughter did you proud.”

Woods and many on social media were unimpressed, with her blunt reaction making headlines at the time.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest are once again searching for stability after Dyche’s departure — their fourth managerial change of the season — while Keys has confirmed he plans to return to the UK when his current contract expires this summer.
