Lindsey Vonn shares an “incredible” recovery video showing her “new wheels” after the tough injury at the 2026 Winter Olympics

Lindsey Vonn is enjoying the ups and downs of her recovery from the disheartening injury she suffered at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics.

The 41-year-old suffered a crash during a Winter Olympic skiing event she competed in last month, requiring her to be airlifted off the slope for further medical attention. Ultimately, doctors determined that Vonn had a complex tibia fracture and a fracture of the fibular head and tibial plateau in her leg.

With that, she underwent surgery and upon completion has been in rest and recovery mode. She’s provided frequent updates for her fans on social media, including one in which she shared a powerful highlight video showing her progress.

The Olympic skier shared her latest video update on Sunday afternoon, revealing that she had a fun new item to assist her during her recovery from surgery.

In an Instagram video clip, Vonn, wearing a black brace on her leg, rides past a wheelchair and through the rooms of a home on a three-wheeled electric mobility scooter, which she uses to keep her off her leg after the surgery.

According to Vonn, she already enjoys the new toy much more than using a wheelchair, but it has some limitations for her.

“Got some new wheels! This is as fast as I’m going to go for a while but it’s better than the wheelchair! I’m naming him ‘Speedy,’” Vonn wrote with a winking emoji and others in her caption.

Minutes after Vonn shared her IG post, it quickly racked up over 23,000 likes and over 500 reactions to the new footage of the alpine skier, as she rode around the rooms with a smile. One individual dubbed her “Speedy Vonnzales ” in the comments.

Others said, “She’s got the need, the need for speed,” “Vonn Voyage,” and “That’s great!! Positive vibes.”

The three-time Olympic medalist ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in late January, but opted to still compete just over a week later at the Winter Olympics in Italy. Unfortunately, that resulted in a crash during the women’s downhill event on Feb. 8, taking her out of the competition.

In addition to Vonn crashing and suffering that painful injury to end her chase of another Olympic medal, she also revealed just before surgery that she’d lost her beloved dog, Leo.

Based on Vonn’s latest IG video and remarks, the new ride for her mobility is nowhere near as fast as the speeds she reaches on the slopes. However, it seems to be bringing her some joy after some difficult moments during her Winter Olympics journey.
