“I’M DETERMINED TO FIGHT THIS” — KEVIN KEEGAN SHARES COURAGEOUS UPDATE AFTER CANCER DIAGNOSIS 

Football legend Kevin Keegan is continuing cancer treatment after being diagnosed earlier this year, according to a statement released by his family.
The former Newcastle United and England manager, 74, was admitted to hospital in January 2026 after experiencing ongoing abdominal symptoms. Medical tests later confirmed he had cancer, and he has since been receiving treatment.
In a statement at the time, Keegan’s family said:
“Kevin Keegan was admitted to hospital for further evaluation of ongoing abdominal symptoms.
These investigations revealed a diagnosis of cancer, for which Kevin is now receiving treatment.
Kevin is grateful to the medical team for their intervention and ongoing care.
During this difficult time, the family are requesting privacy and will be making no further comment.”
Since the news became public, messages of support have poured in from across the football world.
Newcastle United, where Keegan is regarded as a club legend, shared the family statement and posted a message on social media.
“King Kev. We’re with you every step of the way. Hoping for a full and speedy recovery,” the Premier League club wrote.
Former club Liverpool also sent their support, saying the club and its former players’ association Forever Reds were sending their best wishes to Keegan and his family.
Keegan remains one of the most iconic figures in English football, having won major trophies with Liverpool and earned 63 caps for England before later becoming a well-known manager with Newcastle United, England and Manchester City.
The football legend is continuing treatment after the shock cancer diagnosis earlier this year, with reports suggesting his recovery is progressing well as his family requests privacy.
