MAFS Expert Mel Schilling, 54, Reveals Heartbreaking Terminal Cancer Diagnosis and Steps Away from Show

In an emotional and heart-wrenching update, Mel Schilling, the beloved relationship expert from Married at First Sight (MAFS), has shared the devastating news of her terminal cancer diagnosis. At 54, the dating coach, known for her warmth and insightful advice on both the Australian and UK versions of the show, revealed that the cancer, initially diagnosed in late 2023, has now spread to her brain.

The Battle Against Cancer

Mel first learned of her diagnosis in December 2023, when a tumour the size of a lemon was discovered in her colon. In an Instagram post, she affectionately referred to the tumour as “Terry,” which was successfully removed. Initially, there was hope as she was given the all-clear after the surgery. However, two months later, the cancer returned with a vengeance, spreading to her lungs. Despite undergoing 16 rounds of chemotherapy and enrolling in a promising clinical trial, the disease continued to worsen.

In an emotional statement, Mel revealed that the cancer had now spread to her brain. She described the crushing blow of blinding headaches and numbness on one side of her body, which led to the heartbreaking news from her oncologists that there was nothing more they could do.
