Heartbreak On Mother’s Day: Emmerdale’s Charley Webb and Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas are devastated as their beloved mother dies on Mother’s Day after a 12-year battle with Alzheimer’s
Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas has shared heartbreaking news with fans after revealing that his beloved mother has died following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
The actor, who is the brother of Emmerdale star Charley Webb, announced the sad loss in an emotional social media post on Mother’s Day, explaining that their mum had endured a 12-year struggle with the devastating illness before finally passing away.

Posting alongside a touching photo of the pair together, Jamie opened up about the painful journey their family had faced. He wrote that after a 12-year battle with Alzheimer’s, she finally decided it was time to leave them. Reflecting on the toll the illness had taken, he said that anyone who has experienced the disease in a loved one understands that you lose them not once but twice.
Jamie explained that his mum had always been incredibly strong, making it especially painful to watch her slowly change over the years. Seeing her gradually become “a shell of who she once was” was, he admitted, incredibly difficult for the family to endure.
In the moving tribute, the Hollyoaks actor said that she is now finally at peace. He added that the family loved her deeply and would miss her terribly, writing that she was the first person to love him before the world even knew he existed. He ended the message simply: good night mum, rest in peace.

Jamie also used the post to thank the carers and medical staff who supported his mother throughout her illness. He wrote a heartfelt message of gratitude to the wonderful staff who cared for her every day and to everyone who helped her along the way, saying they were truly amazing people.
Fans and friends quickly flooded the comments with messages of sympathy and support. One follower wrote that they were so sorry to hear the news and were sending love to Jamie and his family. Another commented that his fighting spirit clearly came from his mum and sent him strength during such a painful time.
Jamie had previously spoken publicly about his mother’s condition. At the beginning of last year, while marking her 75th birthday, he reflected on how cruel dementia can be and reminded followers how precious time with loved ones is.
He shared that dementia can be incredibly frustrating for families but that it is important to remember the person they once were, explaining that her mind simply no longer worked the same way. He also urged people never to forget that their mother loved them before the world even knew they existed.

Jamie Lomas is widely known for playing Warren Fox in the Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, while his sister Charley Webb became a household name for her role as Debbie Dingle in ITV’s Emmerdale, appearing on the show on and off between 2002 and 2021.
The siblings, along with their sister Cassie Lomas, are now mourning the loss of the woman who raised them, with Jamie’s emotional tribute striking a chord with many families who have experienced the heartbreak of Alzheimer’s.
