Eamonn Holmes Fired After “Slurring and Falling Asleep” Live on Air? — Viewers Demand Answers as He Admits “I’m Sick… I Need Help”

Broadcaster Eamonn Holmes has suddenly disappeared from GB News just days after leaving viewers deeply обеспокоены following a troubling live broadcast in which he appeared to slur his words and drift off mid-show.

The 66-year-old presenter sparked alarm last Wednesday while hosting Breakfast with Eamonn and Ellie alongside Ellie Costello. During the live segment, viewers noticed Eamonn closing his eyes for extended moments, fiddling awkwardly with his microphone and phone, and struggling with simple actions — including attempting to put the lid back on a pen.

Despite signing off the programme as usual, telling viewers they would see him again “bright and early in the morning” and wishing them a good day, he has not returned to screens since.

In the days that followed, stand-in presenters including Mark White and Stephen Dixon stepped in to fill his slot — a move that did not go unnoticed by loyal viewers. Social media quickly filled with concern, with one viewer writing that Eamonn appeared to be “struggling” and needed medical assistance, while another questioned why he had suddenly vanished from the show.

Some even speculated whether the veteran presenter had been quietly removed, with one post suggesting he had been “axed” after falling asleep live on air.

However, GB News has since confirmed that Eamonn is currently on annual leave.

The worrying incident has only heightened concern given Eamonn’s well-documented  health struggles in recent years. The presenter has undergone multiple major procedures, including a double hip replacement in 2016, followed by spinal surgery after suffering slipped discs and a dislocated pelvis.

Speaking candidly in a recent podcast interview, Eamonn admitted just how much his condition has impacted his daily life. He said he doesn’t know what the future holds, adding that society can be ageist and that he is now sick and reliant on a wheelchair, something he described as horrendous to deal with over the past two years.

He revealed that he cannot get up unaided and requires carers throughout the day, though he insists he is still capable of doing his job once seated.

Eamonn also opened up about the challenges of living with a disability, explaining how everyday experiences — from visiting the cinema to booking a hotel — have become frustrating and isolating. He said that venues often fail to accommodate disabled people properly, leaving them with limited and unfair options.

The veteran presenter, who enjoyed a long career across programmes including GMTV and This Morning, has remained a familiar face on British television despite personal setbacks, including his split from Ruth Langsford in 2024 after 14 years of marriage.

Now, his sudden absence — combined with that unsettling on-air moment — has left fans questioning whether there is more going on behind the scenes.
