James Lewis, beloved Bargain Hunt star, is opening up about finding love again after his marriage to his wife ended. The 53-year-old TV personality has found happiness with his new husband, Ed Otter, who is 18 years his junior, and the couple’s intimate wedding ceremony in September 2024 marked the start of their new chapter.
Lewis, who has become a fan favorite on Bargain Hunt, married Ed in a private ceremony with just 50 guests, including his 17-year-old daughter, Arabella, from his previous relationship. The couple’s story is a heartwarming one, as James reflects on his journey to love again.
In a candid interview, James revealed to The Mirror that meeting Ed felt like destiny. “Was it love at first sight? Pretty much, yeah. I had split up from my wife, my daughter’s mum. And I was just ready,” he shared. The pair initially considered eloping to the mountains of Yellowstone National Park in America but ultimately decided to include family, making the day even more special.

James admits he feels incredibly fortunate, saying, “He and Arabella get on so well. I’m very lucky.” In fact, Arabella now calls both James and Ed “Dad,” which highlights the close-knit bond they’ve built as a family.

But their joy wasn’t without a scare. On the day of their wedding, James, who has survived two previous cardiac arrests, experienced a terrifying health scare when his heart rate spiked to over 250 beats per minute. His cardiologist had previously warned him to avoid high-stress situations, but James was determined to go ahead with the wedding. He acknowledged the advice but explained, “I didn’t plan on getting married again, but I still wanted to celebrate my love and life with Ed.”
James has become a staple of Bargain Hunt over the years and previously appeared on Flog It! until its conclusion. His positive outlook and resilience in the face of health challenges continue to inspire fans.
James Lewis also praised his new husband, saying that working with Ed is much easier than it was with his ex-wife. “He’s incredibly kind and easy-going,” James said, clearly expressing how well they complement each other both personally and professionally.
