Alison Hammond has stunned fans by revealing she turned down what she herself once described as the “perfect job” — stepping into the spotlight as host of Strictly Come Dancing — because her life is already too full to make it work.
The beloved presenter, 51, confirmed that BBC bosses had approached her about taking over the iconic role following the shock exit of long-time hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman at the end of 2025. But despite being heavily tipped as a frontrunner, Alison admitted she had no choice but to walk away.
Speaking candidly, she said she is simply too busy for the commitment, explaining that Strictly just isn’t realistic right now. She added that she was thrilled to even be considered, but like Celebrity Traitors, she had to turn it down because everything clashes.
