The actor, who touched the hearts of fans with his portrayal of the new recruit in the hit Northern Irish police drama, succumbed to his battle with Stage IV melanoma, just a month after announcing his terminal cancer diagnosis.
Finnian’s passing comes after a heartbreaking social media post in March, where he revealed he had entered hospice care. His family shared the news of his death, expressing deep gratitude for the support they had received from fans and loved ones during his final days. They said, “He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, as he had wished. We want to thank everyone for their kindness and support, which gave Finn comfort during his last days.”
Finnian’s journey with cancer began five years ago when he was diagnosed with a stage-three malignant melanoma after noticing a suspicious mole on his scalp. Despite undergoing several treatments and surgeries, including a major procedure in 2022, the cancer rapidly progressed, and in 2024, he was diagnosed with Stage IV melanoma.
In a poignant Instagram post, he wrote: “I am fit and healthy, but I still have a very serious disease that just went unnoticed. I want to raise awareness, so no one else has to go through this.” His campaign to increase awareness of melanoma was driven by his desire to make sure others understood the importance of getting checked early, as he never could have imagined how quickly the disease would take hold.
