Valentín L. Velasquez, 68, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault of a child and three counts of indecency with a child by contact in a plea agreement with the McLennan County District Attorney’s Office.
Judge Thomas West of Waco’s 19th State District Court accepted the plea agreement and sentenced Valasquez to 12 years on each count, which according to the plea bargain, will be served concurrently.
Velasquez was indicted on a charge of continuous sexual assault of a young child, for which he faced a minimum sentence of 25 years in prison without parole up to life in prison with no parole. However, prosecutors reduced that charge to sexual assault of a child under the terms of the plea bargain.
