Big Break Returns After 24 Years: Paddy McGuinness and Snooker Legend Stephen Hendry to Host

After more than two decades, the iconic snooker  game show Big Break is making a grand return to BBC screens. The beloved show, which originally ran from 1991 to 2002, is being rebooted with TV host Paddy McGuinness and snooker legend Stephen Hendry at the helm.

The revamped version will be broadcast on BBC Two and promises an exciting mix of trick shots, intense snooker action, and high-stakes competition. Contestants, teamed up with professional snooker players, will tackle snooker-based rounds while answering questions, all in the hopes of winning a grand cash prize. The new show is set to air alongside the BBC’s regular snooker coverage, ensuring a snooker-filled spectacle for fans.

Paddy McGuinness, 52, expressed his excitement about joining the show, saying: “I am absolutely delighted to be a part of Big Break. It is one of those shows everyone knows and loves, so to be hosting it alongside legend Stephen Hendry will be something special. Bring it on!”

Seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry, 57, shared his enthusiasm as well: “Big Break was a unique mix of trick shots and great entertainment, and I can’t wait to be back at the table and bringing this incredible show to a whole new audience. Who knows, we might inspire the next generation of snooker players.”

The original show, which ran for 10 successful series, became a Saturday night favorite, attracting millions of viewers and creating lasting memories for fans. But after its cancellation in 2002, Big Break has been sorely missed—until now. The new series promises to reignite the spark and deliver just as much excitement, with familiar faces from the snooker world and plenty of surprises in store.
