Martin Kemp, the legendary Wham! star, has issued a playful warning to his wife, Shirlie, about their son Roman’s potential wedding – and it’s a twist no one saw coming! Despite their own intimate 1988 elopement in St Lucia, the Kemps might not be invited to their son’s big day, and Martin has made it clear they can’t be upset if that happens.
Having been happily married for over 35 years, Martin and Shirlie have raised two grown-up kids, Roman and Harley Moon. But when it comes to weddings, their approach has always been very private. They eloped themselves without a guest list, and now, Martin says Roman might follow in their footsteps and elope too.
Speaking candidly, Martin told Shirlie she may have to accept that, just as they didn’t invite their own parents, they’ll likely miss out on their son’s ceremony too. He joked, “I can tell you, you won’t be [invited]. Roman will do exactly the same thing. We’ll have no right to be heartbroken because we’ll have no say in it!”
In contrast to Martin’s lighthearted acceptance, Shirlie, who is eager to be part of any wedding, revealed that if her kids tie the knot, she “wants to be there.” Yet, Martin doesn’t share the same sentiment – he believes Roman, just like them, will want to keep his wedding private.
But don’t worry – it’s not all about weddings! Martin can’t wait to be a grandfather, sharing his excitement about the idea of welcoming grandkids. He said, “If it happened tomorrow, I’d love it, absolutely love it.”

Meanwhile, the buzz around Roman’s love life has grown stronger with recent engagement rumors swirling. Roman and girlfriend Carmen Gaggero were spotted with a ring on her engagement finger, sparking speculation that a proposal may have already taken place. According to insiders, Roman is ready to settle down, and it’s clear that he sees Carmen as “the one.”
Shirlie, for her part, is over the moon with the news, telling friends she’s “so excited” about the wedding – even though she may have to wait a while to get that invite.
If Roman’s secretive wedding plans follow the family’s tradition, fans may just have to keep their fingers crossed for an invite too!
