A Mexican former mayor has been a hit during her country’s World Cup performances — and she’s been forced to speak out.
Sandra Cuevas, who previously served as the Mayor of Cuauhtémoc, has been enjoying El Tri’s beginning to the tournament, with vibes high in Mexico after wins over South Africa and South Korea.
But the politician in particular gained attention for her skimpy outfit during a recent gathering, forcing her to respond to online comments about her chest after she went viral.
“Well, guys, what can I do. I can’t just take them off,” Cuevas said, via The Sun.
She continued: “I don’t take it as an attack, there will be those who think that way and take it in a derogatory way, but that’s how we Mexicans are.”
Photos on social media show that Cuevas, 40, wore a low-cut white tank top for a recent Mexico outing.
She appeared to tie a Mexico jersey or shirt around her waist but wasn’t actually wearing it in the photos.
After serving as the Mayor of Cuauhtémoc until 2024, Cuevas now reportedly works as a coordinator for the Mexico Nuevo political movement.
Her reign as mayor lasted from October 2021 to March 2024.
