Steph McGovern is heading back to the BBC, more than a year after her Channel 4 programme Steph’s Packed Lunch was abruptly scrapped despite its loyal following.
The 43-year-old broadcaster, who was a familiar face on BBC Breakfast as the main business presenter between 2011 and 2019, revealed on Instagram that she is returning to front three new projects.

“Big work news,” she teased to her followers. “I can’t tell you the specifics yet. But it involves hosting 3 shows all out in the next 12 months… One is a brand new BBC One daytime series, one is a new BBC Two evening show, and the third is a longstanding TV programme that’s been around almost as long as I have been alive. I AM ABSOLUTELY BUZZING!!!”

Her post was met with a flood of excitement from fans. One wrote: “This is brilliant news Steph. I’m happy to watch you in any capacity.” Another added: “Really missed seeing you on telly! Can’t wait for the new shows.”
McGovern’s announcement comes nearly two years after Steph’s Packed Lunch was axed in December 2023, leaving viewers devastated. Many fans branded the decision “totally wrong,” with one insisting: “It was the best UK daytime show, why would they axe it? Always fun to watch and had great discussions.”

At the time, even insiders questioned Channel 4’s choice, calling it a “nonsense” move driven by execs keen to cut live programming.
Now, with her new BBC venture, McGovern is proving she’s far from done — and her comeback has already sparked joy across her devoted fanbase.
