David Beckham finally receives knighthood: A kneel, a smile, and a line that says it all—“truly humbling.” After years of noise over taxes and leaks, Sir David walks out of Windsor with a shine only family and service can polish ❤🥹👇

David Beckham has finally been made a Knight Bachelor by King Charles at Windsor Castle, drawing a line under years of waiting and headlines about tax rows and leaked emails. The 50-year-old former England captain—now officially Sir David—accepted the honour for services to sport and charity, with wife Victoria looking on. By virtue of his new title, she is Lady Beckham.

Speaking after the ceremony, Beckham admitted the moment would “take a little while” to sink in and called the accolade “truly humbling,” reflecting on a childhood in east London with “parents and grandparents who were so patriotic and proud to be British.”

Victoria shared her pride in a glowing Instagram message, telling followers, “You’ve always been my knight in shining armour, but now it’s official… What an honour, I couldn’t be prouder of you… your dedication to your country, your work, your passion, and most of all, your family… continues to inspire us every day,” before signing off, “I’m so, so proud to call you mine. I love you so much.”

The honour comes after an agonising wait during which the football icon’s name was repeatedly linked to the 2000s Ingenious film investment saga and the later furore over leaked emails. A 2017 tribunal move left more than a thousand investors—including high-profile figures—facing heavy tax bills; Beckham’s camp has long insisted the family’s tax affairs are properly filed and approved. Despite the glare, his public work carried on.

Across a 115-cap England career and club glory with Manchester United—including the 1999 treble—Beckham helped project English football onto a global stage. Off the pitch he has spent two decades weaving philanthropy into his brand, from serving as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 2005 to supporting Malaria No More UK and, more recently, becoming an ambassador for The King’s Foundation.

Inside the Quadrangle at Windsor, Sir David was watched by his parents and Victoria as he briefly chatted with the monarch and received the insignia. He later name-checked Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper on social media, writing of his love for his family.

Also recognised at the investiture were novelist Sir Kazuo Ishiguro and West End legend Dame Elaine Paige—reminders that, on a day of royal honours, Beckham’s knighthood sits within a broader celebration of British achievement.
