Amy Dowden, beloved Strictly Come Dancing star, has received an outpouring of love and support as she opened up about her “tough” chemotherapy journey after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

The Welsh dancer, who was diagnosed in 2023, made the difficult decision to miss that year’s Strictly while undergoing treatment. Despite the setback, Amy made a triumphant return to the show a year later — only for her time on the competition to be cut short due to an injury.
Following a cancer scare in 2024, Amy was back in action for Strictly, but in her most recent social media update, she’s reflecting on the intense period of fighting cancer.
A Journey of Strength and Resilience
On March 26, Amy took to Instagram to share a powerful before-and-after photo. On the left, she’s seen in the hospital with a shaved head during her chemotherapy treatment. On the right, Amy shines brightly with her hair grown back, looking stronger and more confident than ever.
In the caption, Amy shared: “This was me during intense, tough fortnightly chemo, and this is #thisismenow feeling happier, stronger, and more confident than ever. I’m so proud of how far I’ve come.”
She also encouraged her followers to share their own stories, writing: “Almost one million people are living with or beyond breast cancer in the UK. Share your #ThisIsMeNow story and help show the true reality of breast cancer.”
Amy continued to highlight the ongoing work of Breast Cancer Now, saying, “They won’t stop until there’s a future where everyone with breast cancer lives and lives well. Join me in supporting them until it’s Breast Cancer Never.”
