RIGHT-WING CIVIL WAR IN THE UK – “RESTORE BRITAIN” PARTY THREATENS NIGEL FARAGE’S THRONE
London, UK — British politics is witnessing a new earthquake from the right wing. Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage—a force once expected to replace the Labour and Conservative parties—is now facing a direct threat right on its home turf. The strong rise of a new far-right party named “Restore Britain,” founded by former senior member Rupert Lowe, is seriously eroding Reform UK’s position.
The Root of the Rift
Tensions began to erupt in March 2025. Rupert Lowe—who was elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Great Yarmouth under the Reform UK banner—publicly criticized the party as merely a “movement party” revolving around the persona of Nigel Farage as a “messiah”.
Just one day after those statements, Reform UK’s internal ranks plunged into crisis when Zia Yousaf, another senior member, accused Lowe of using threatening language. As a result, Lowe was expelled from the party, and the incident was even reported to the police, although ultimately no criminal charges were filed.
Instead of retreating, Lowe made a bold move: establishing a new political organization called “Restore Britain,” with a far more extreme and hardline ideological orientation compared to Reform UK.
Outflanking Farage with Far-Right Views
The core difference between Restore Britain and Reform UK lies in immigration policy. While Nigel Farage—despite being famous for his anti-immigration stance—still considers mass deportations to be “politically impossible,” Rupert Lowe pursues a more extreme position. Lowe calls for the deportation of all illegal immigrants and even proposes the complete abolition of the current asylum system.
Through a “flanking” strategy, Lowe is actively working to attract right-wing voters who feel disappointed that Reform UK is “not tough enough”.
Electoral Landscape and Social Media Influence
According to experts, the emergence of Restore Britain is not just a passing movement. National opinion polls show the party holding between 3% and 6% in support. Specifically, in the upcoming by-election in Makerfield, Restore Britain is reaching 7%—a figure large enough to siphon off Reform UK’s votes and hand victory to the opposition.
Support for Lowe and Restore Britain is also heavily amplified on social media platforms. It was revealed that billionaire Elon Musk himself has repeatedly posted in support of Lowe on the X platform, helping him attract over 750,000 followers. On Facebook, Lowe currently boasts 1.3 million followers—a figure surpassing those of Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Kemi Badenoch combined.
According to Professor Sir John Curtice, Britain’s leading polling expert, Reform UK has lost about one-eighth of its former supporters to Restore Britain.
