Carol Kirkwood Reveals Exciting Retirement Plans: ‘We’re Going to Travel for Some Time’

After 27 incredible years on BBC Breakfast, Carol Kirkwood is preparing for an exciting new chapter in her life as she reveals her plans for retirement when she turns 65. The beloved weather presenter, who joined the show back in 1997, will soon be saying goodbye to her early morning broadcasts, but it’s not the end of her adventures.

Carol, 63, shared her exciting retirement dreams in a recent interview with Saga Magazine. She and her husband, Steve, are planning to take some much-needed time off to  travel the world. “We fell in love with Majorca, which is where we went so I could research my fifth novel, Meet Me at Sunset,” she said. “Steve and I also plan to escape and travel for some time when we retire, perhaps in a year or two. We’ll either travel in a camper van, or get in the car, cross over to France, and just drive,” she explained. 🚗💨Carol Kirkwood in white, smiling

A New Life with Husband Steve

In addition to her travel plans, Carol also opened up about her relationship with her husband, Steve Randall, who is 13 years her junior. The two tied the knot in December 2023 after a whirlwind romance. “It was fate,” Carol said about their meeting. “We were at a function neither of us wanted to go to. It was a Sliding Doors moment – if I hadn’t gone, we would never have met.” Despite their age gap, Carol said she doesn’t feel the difference, adding that their connection was meant to be.Carol Kirkwood on BBC Breakfast

Reflecting on their intimate wedding, Carol gushed, “I cannot tell you how fabulous it’s been! I would not change a thing about the day. It was very small and intimate, so you didn’t have to worry that Auntie Nelly didn’t have a glass of sherry in her hand! It was brilliant.” 🥂

Carol’s journey from her early days on BBC Breakfast to finding love again has been nothing short of inspiring. As she prepares for her final chapters on the show, she’s looking forward to a future full of adventure, love, and new beginnings with Steve. 🌅💑
