Denise Welch, the outspoken star of Loose Women, has sparked a viral sensation after sharing a furious rant on social media about a council binman allegedly swearing at her son.
The 67-year-old actress took to X (formerly Twitter) to publicly accuse a rubbish collector from Brent Council of using offensive language towards her son, Matt Healy, the lead singer of the popular band The 1975. Denise claimed that her son had tried to speak with the collector after his bins had gone unemptied for three weeks, only to be insulted with a shocking expletive.
Her now-deleted tweet read: “Hi @brent_council. You haven’t emptied my son’s bins in 3 weeks. Any attempts at due process have failed. He tried to talk to a collector who called him a c***!! Can you let me know how we move forward!!!!”
Fans quickly speculated that Denise was referring to Matt Healy, 36, who lives in Hackney, London. However, it’s not clear whether she was referring to Matt or her other son, actor Louis Healy, 25.
The message quickly caught fire on social media, with fans expressing their support for Denise’s bold stance. In response to the controversy, a spokesperson for Brent Council replied to Denise, saying: “Hi Denise, we are very sorry to hear about your son’s experience. If you could DM us the address, we will look into this as a matter of urgency.”
After deleting her original tweet, Denise followed up with an update, thanking her fans: “So @Brent_Council has responded thank you. And I appreciate all of your comments which have made me laugh.”
As the story spread, Denise shared a lighthearted mock-up of a BBC news report, jokingly headlined: “Denise Welch in bin-gate scandal.” Her playful tone and humorous response only added to the viral nature of the incident, with fans rallying behind her and praising her for standing up for her son.
While the situation remains unresolved, Denise’s outburst has brought attention to issues beyond the bins, with her fans rallying together to support her and offer comedic commentary on the now-infamous “bin-gate” scandal.
