A firestorm has erupted at ITV after Ed Balls’ highly controversial interview on Good Morning Britain with antisemitism campaigner Dov Forman – a row so intense, it’s reached the highest levels of ITV’s management.
The interview quickly spiraled out of control after Balls questioned whether Muslim prayer in Trafalgar Square could be contributing to division within the Jewish community. His remarks came just days after a shocking antisemitic arson attack in Golders Green, where four Jewish volunteer ambulances were firebombed.
Balls’ question – which many deemed to be “whataboutery” – stirred backlash, as critics accused him of diverting attention away from the heart of the issue: antisemitism. In a tense on-air exchange, Forman refused to get sidetracked, stating firmly, “We are here to talk about the antisemitic attack this morning in the Jewish community.”
The exchange ignited fury, with Reform UK MP Robert Jenrick calling the moment “deeply unpleasant” and accusing Balls of being “clueless.”

Forman said: ‘I won’t get drawn into a debate about whether his words were right or wrong. We are here to talk about the antisemitic attack this morning in the Jewish community’
Reform UK MP Robert Jenrick condemned the interview as “deeply unpleasant,” calling out Ed Balls for “engaging in whataboutery.”
A spokesperson for Good Morning Britain defended Balls, claiming the question aimed to probe whether a “culture of intolerance” might be putting Jewish communities at greater risk, but they regretted any offence caused.
The row comes just days after the Golders Green firebombing, an incident that left residents in fear after ambulances belonging to the Jewish volunteer group Hatzola were set ablaze. Thankfully, no one was hurt. However, two men have since been arrested in connection with the incident, and authorities continue their investigation.
Ed Balls’ controversial interview with Dov Forman sparked widespread anger across the UK.
This isn’t the first time Balls has faced criticism during his time on Good Morning Britain. Back in 2024, he was blasted for interviewing his wife, former Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, which some viewers called biased and inappropriate.
With complaints flooding in and ITV bosses now dealing with the aftermath, the future of Ed Balls on the show seems uncertain.
Will the fallout from this controversial interview blow over, or will it leave a permanent mark on Good Morning Britain? One thing is clear: the storm is far from over.
