EXCLUSIVE: Josie Gibson’s Balancing Act — How Alison Hammond Helps Heal Her Heart

Since her breakout on Big Brother in 2010, Josie Gibson has become one of television’s most beloved faces. Now 41, she’s a fixture on This Morning, hosts her own shows, and juggles a career hotter than ever — all while raising her seven-year-old son, Reggie James, as a single mum.

Speaking to Closer, Josie admits that life is a constant juggle. “Every day is a juggling act — any parent knows that,” she says. “Trying to get Reggie to clubs, keep him active, and manage a career? It’s a lot. Especially when you’re on your own.”

Fitness is a family affair for Josie. Once a week, she and Reggie tackle circuit training together, with the young boy encouraging his mum every step of the way. “If I try to stop, he says, ‘Come on mum. Get up, get up!’” she laughs. Her commitment to keeping kids active extends beyond home, supporting Iceland’s Kits for Kids campaign to help grassroots football teams with full kits — a cause close to her heart.

Josie’s own fitness journey has been no easy ride. She admits her work schedule makes sticking to routines tough, but she has kept active with circuit training and walking. The star has been candid about her weight loss — believed to be around five stone — and her battle with lipoedema, a condition causing abnormal fat build-up. Surgery on her calves and arms was a “last resort,” she says, but her determination to bounce back fast reflected her dedication as a working mother.Josie Gibson's new heartbreak: 'Alison makes it all better'

Behind the scenes, one key figure has helped Josie navigate both life and work: This Morning co-star Alison Hammond. “She’s the loveliest woman on the planet,” Josie says. “When I need a pick-me-up, I can phone Alison and she makes everything better. She manages to make everything go away.” The pair bonded over their shared journeys from Big Brother fame and their experiences as single mothers — and the friendship has remained unshakable.Jordan North revealed as new This Morning showbiz host (ITV)

While Josie shines alongside Alison, she’s also carved out her own path in television. From travel specials to Josie Gibson’s Big Country Build, and more recently How To Clean Up For Cash and Josie’s Taste Of The Westcountry, the Bristol-born star continues to chase projects she loves. “I saw Dermot O’Leary do Taste Of Ireland and thought, ‘Hold on, I get a Taste Of The Westcountry!’” she says.

Fans are buzzing over rumours of Josie possibly joining Strictly Come Dancing, but she remains tight-lipped. “I’ve got a few things in the pipeline,” she teases. “But you know how it is — I’m not allowed to say!”

Through it all, Josie’s focus remains clear: her son, her friends, and her passion for television — a combination that proves she’s not just surviving the juggle, she’s thriving.
