Katherine Ryan has welcomed her fourth child — and third with husband Bobby Kootstra — revealing their newborn daughter’s name as Holland Juliette Kootstra. The comedian, 41, confirmed the happy news after Bobby announced: “Holland Juliette Kootstra has arrived. The ‘Patrick Mahomes’ of childbirth pulled out another MVP performance! Amazing to witness the greatness of @kathbum #blessed.”

Bobby posted the first photo of baby Holland in a custom-knit babygro stitched with her name, before sharing another shot carrying his daughter out of hospital. Back home, big sister Violet, 15, and Katherine and Bobby’s younger children, Fred, 4, and Fenna, 2, were seen doting on the new arrival.
Celebrations started early in Katherine’s swanky hospital suite, where, according to Bobby, the Canadian star sipped Dom Pérignon and tucked into Nobu sushi. She had kept this pregnancy as low-key as possible after revealing it on her Telling Everybody Everything podcast in June, though fans first clocked a hint when Violet’s TikTok briefly showed Katherine’s growing bump. Days later, Katherine stepped onto a red carpet and let the secret speak for itself.

The couple chose not to learn the baby’s sex in advance — a point of playful debate at home. Filming herself in July, Katherine laughed, “This has got to be a boy,” before adding, “We don’t know,” while Bobby admitted on the podcast, “I think the best thing for the family would be a girl.” Katherine joked the pregnancy “explained the 20lb weight gain.”

Their road to baby number four has been emotional. Katherine has spoken candidly about welcoming two babies, suffering three miscarriages, and managing Bobby’s move from Canada to the UK. Speaking to OK! earlier this year, she explained they conceive quickly but added, “I’ve been pregnant five times in five years,” noting the odds of miscarriage rise with age and every family must balance what they can handle. She has also been clear that surrogacy isn’t for her, saying it would feel like “labour — both literal and also the workload — to fall on another woman,” while stressing she finds it “wonderful” for those who choose it.

The baby joy follows a health scare: months before announcing her pregnancy, Katherine underwent surgery after spotting a suspicious mole. Having previously been diagnosed with stage two melanoma at 21, she pushed for testing despite initial reassurance.
For now, the household is basking in baby bliss — and the name Holland already has a wardrobe to match.
