For years, Bradley Walsh has been the face of some of Britain’s most beloved TV shows — from The Chase to Breaking Dad — charming millions with his quick wit, warm personality, and effortless humour. But behind the smiles and laughter, the 64-year-old entertainer has been quietly battling a health condition that could one day force him to leave television for good.
In a rare and emotional interview, Walsh admitted that his vision has been deteriorating due to blepharitis, a chronic eye condition that causes inflammation of the eyelids, blurred vision, and extreme discomfort. “My vision is fading,” he revealed. “It’s something I’ve been managing for years, but there’s no cure. You just have to live with it — and hope it doesn’t get worse.”
The star first noticed the symptoms several years ago, describing episodes where his eyes would become painfully irritated during filming. “People think it’s just tiredness or allergies, but it’s more than that. It’s constant. It affects everything — even reading scripts becomes difficult on bad days,” he explained.
Walsh has also been open about other health struggles, including his battle with high cholesterol and the lifestyle changes he’s had to make to stay healthy. “I’ve had to slow down, take better care of myself. You start thinking about the future in a different way,” he admitted.
Fans have been flooding social media with messages of support since his revelation, praising his courage for speaking out. Many expressed shock, having never realised the severity of his condition.
While Walsh remains determined to continue working for as long as possible, he acknowledges that the day may come when he can no longer appear on screen. “If it gets to the point where I can’t do my job properly, I’ll walk away. I owe that to the audience,” he said.
For now, though, Bradley is refusing to let his condition define him — proving once again why he remains one of the UK’s most admired and enduring television personalities.
