Rylan Clark Calls Himself a ‘Married Man’ — But Confusion Follows Just Months After Going Public With Boyfriend

Rylan Clark has left fans scratching their heads after calling himself a “married man” during a lively appearance on This Morning — less than a year after revealing his romance with fairground boss Kennedy Bates, 47.

The 37-year-old presenter joined fellow Eurovision commentator Angela Scanlon, 42, on Thursday’s episode via video call from Vienna, where the pair chatted with hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley about life, Eurovision, and relationships.

When Cat playfully asked if he’d been “well behaved,” Rylan laughed, recalling a cheeky moment at the palace after Eurovision. “So yeah, I am behaving now. Look, I’m a married man, I’m very happy… I’ve not even been out this year. That’s the God’s honest truth,” he said, prompting Ben to pause mid-question: “You just said you were a married man… Has something happened while you’ve been in Vienna that we need to know?”

Rylan clarified with a grin: “Not married, just very happy, very content. Living my fairground life.”

The TV star first confirmed his relationship with Kennedy — head of Billy Bates & Sons funfair in Leicestershire — last August. The couple quickly became Instagram favourites, sharing sun-soaked snaps from their January getaway to the Maldives. Kennedy made his affection clear, drawing a giant heart on Rylan’s back in suncream and holding hands as they explored the tropical paradise together.

Fans and celebrity friends were quick to gush over Rylan’s happiness. Rob Rinder wrote: “This is the standard I had in mind for you,” while Zoe Ball added: “Love this love for you, Baby.” Craig David and Christine McGuinness were equally supportive, posting their love-filled reactions online.

Rylan, who was previously married for six years before divorcing in 2021 following a cheating scandal, has been open about his journey to find love again. He revealed on Louis Theroux’s How To Be In Love podcast that he and Kennedy have even discussed starting a family, marking a fresh, joyful chapter in the TV personality’s life.

From past heartbreak to Maldives bliss, Rylan’s love story with Kennedy is a reminder that sometimes, happiness comes when you least expect it — even if it makes fans do a double take.
