Sir David Attenborough has been spotted looking noticeably frail during a rare public outing just days after celebrating his 100th birthday, with the beloved broadcaster seen being carefully helped along by his daughter Susan in London.
The national treasure appeared unsteady on his feet as he slowly made his way towards Susan’s car, relying on her support while walking through the capital. Witnesses said the legendary presenter still appeared alert and calm, but fans were left emotional by the sight of the once tireless explorer now moving far more cautiously in public.
Sir David, who officially turned 100 on May 8, has spent almost 65 years on television and travelled to some of the most remote corners of the planet during his extraordinary career. But despite concerns over his health after the latest sighting, the broadcaster has repeatedly insisted he has no plans to retire.
The BBC is currently honouring the TV icon with a week of special broadcasts celebrating his remarkable legacy. One of the standout programmes, Making Life on Earth, revisited the creation of his groundbreaking 1976 wildlife series which was watched by an estimated 500 million viewers worldwide.
A huge tribute event at London’s Royal Albert Hall is also set to air, featuring music from Planet Earth, Blue Planet and Frozen Planet, alongside appearances from stars and colleagues inspired by Attenborough’s life and work.
Even in his later years, Sir David has continued pushing forward with new ideas and projects. Last year, BBC bosses even discussed bringing the broadcaster onto TikTok to help inspire younger generations, while he also launched a virtual reality nature experience at the age of 98.
