A fierce political and media backlash is demanding the immediate resignation of the Hampshire Police Chief, as newly exposed details of mandatory Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) training are being directly blamed for officers handcuffing 18-year-old Henry Nowak as he bled to death.

The controversy escalated rapidly following a broadcast on GB News, which argued that ideological police training created a systemic bias that led responding officers to prioritize a false racism claim made by the killer over a dying white teenager.

“Indoctrinated” by DEI Training

During the broadcast, commentators sharply criticized the Hampshire Police Chief’s official apology, arguing it lacked the empathy previously shown in cases involving minority victims.

The broadcast subsequently executed a “deep dive” into the mandatory diversity training required for all Hampshire Police staff. The curriculum, developed alongside the University of Reading, includes modules titled “Inclusion Matters” and “Unconscious Bias.” Officers are reportedly trained extensively on concepts such as microaggressions, white privilege, allyship, and “upstander behavior.”

Conservative commentators argued that this specific curriculum “indoctrinated” police officers to view interactions entirely through the lens of race, creating an institutional assumption that ethnic minorities are always victims. The host argued this ideology directly caused officers to believe the killer—who falsely claimed he was the victim of a racist attack—while ignoring Nowak’s pleas that he had been stabbed.

Officers Felt “Pressured” and “Controlled”

The media narrative was heavily bolstered by newly released survey data published by The Times.

According to the report, a significant portion of the Hampshire Police force felt compromised by the mandatory diversity training. The survey revealed that one in seven officers and staff felt “controlled and pressured” to adopt the specific ideological concepts forced upon them during the sessions. Furthermore, one-fifth (20%) of the force reported fearing rejection or professional retaliation if they said the “wrong thing” regarding race or diversity.

Police Chiefs Announce Policy Shift

Amid the escalating outrage and accusations that white Britons are being “demonized” by a two-tier justice system, the national policing body has announced an immediate policy review.

Chief Constable Gavin Stephens, Chair of the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC), confirmed that the organization will amend its official guidelines. “We are listening to legitimate concerns about how some of these commitments are worded or phrased, and where needed we can and will make changes,” Stephens stated, though he maintained that the core intent of improving policing equality remains intact.
