Harry Potter Star Miriam Margolyes, 85, Admits ‘I Don’t Have Much Time Left’ as She Opens Up About Health Struggles
Miriam Margolyes, beloved for her portrayal of Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter series, has revealed heartbreaking details about her ongoing health battles.
The 85-year-old actress shared that her time may be running out as she faces significant challenges, both physically and emotionally.
In a candid interview with Weekend Magazine, Miriam spoke about the toll her health has taken. “I don’t have much time left,” she confessed. “I’ve let my body down. I should have taken better care of it, but now I’m struggling.” The actress, who now relies on a walker, admitted she wished she’d exercised more, acknowledging the impact of her choices on her physical well-being.
Miriam’s health struggles are compounded by spinal stenosis, which affects her mobility. Using canes, walkers, and even a scooter, she has had to register as disabled.
Despite these setbacks, her determination to remain active in her work remains strong, though she recognizes her limitations.
Reflecting on her diagnosis, Miriam shared her grim outlook, saying she may not have long to live. “I’m probably going to die within the next five or six years,” she explained. “I’m not afraid of it though. I think about death a lot now… there’s no light at the end of the tunnel.” Miriam’s heartbreaking news comes after losing several close co-stars, including Alan Rickman, Richard Harris, and Robbie Coltrane.
Yet, she continues to face the reality of aging and health struggles with remarkable resilience. Her openness about her health and her journey through these challenges offers a powerful reminder to live each day fully and with grace.
